Research Projects

In establishing SAMMRI it was agreed that a pilot programme would be launched, the aim of which would be to demonstrate the technical competence of the research providers, their capacity to work collaboratively and their ability to deliver quality research outputs on time and within budget.

The FIRST cycle (2011-12) constituted a total of 9 projects that were selected by the SAMMRI Board from proposals that were invited from local universities during November 2010. These universities were identified from a survey conducted in 2009 to assess the interest by higher education institutions to become involved with the SAMMRI projects.

The SECOND cycle (2013-2014) comprises a total of 13 projects with a continuation from the intial cycle. The THIRD cycle (2013-2015) comprises a total of 10 projects.
